I work for a terrific client. The project is well thought out and I feel I'm making a solid contribution not only to the project, but also to the client's understanding of Exstream Dialogue, it's capabilities and it's challenges. Dialogue is a complex product that does what is designed to do and does it well; I am very happy where I am and the role that I am playing as an Exstream Dialogue professional.
That being said, I do have a job search bot installed on my iPod that executes a one word job search just to gauge the job market. After, all I work freelance, and I have responsibilities that need to be attended to. The search gives me the number of new jobs posted that day on multiple job boards.
I found one job today close to where I live, so I opened the link up. The location was Clearwater, FL and discussed some problems that the client was having in implementing Version 8 of Exstream Dialogue and needed a SME who could help them determine whether they should fix the performance issues surrounding Version 8 or move to Version 9 of Exstream Dialogue.
Surprise. Version 8 will not be released until August of 2011(projected) according to an HP Incident Report I filed recently. Although the release may be long overdue ( when did V.7 come out, 2008? 2009? ) the release date proposed is probably aggressive.
So who is the time traveller who can claim to have a thorough understanding of a release that has not been released, and can determine the gap analysis between Version 8 and an release that may never even be scheduled? Do companies filter their interviews to only select not only the unqualified, but, in addition, candidates who fall for trick questions?
A candidate who is not only ignorant but also disingenuous may be a rare breed. I doubt that this one will be out there long, but here's the link.
The Truth is out there! I'd call up the recruiter, but this is what search engine webcrawlers are for. He'll figure it out. Anyone here seen Mike Rahch?
